Topics For Gatherings on Sunday Night
Deuteronomy: Lives that Honor God
Overview
This four-week look at the book of Deuteronomy offers insight into what the Old Testament has to say about living a life pleasing to God. In these lessons, students will see both specific and general examples of what this life looks like, and they will discover how God enables us to live a life of purpose and faithfulness.
In Lesson 1, students will consider what it looks like to live a God-centered life and will be challenged to commit to living that way. Lesson 2 focuses on God’s faithfulness and will encourage your students to consider how God has been faithful to them in the past, and the strength this gives them to live in the present and plan for the future. Lesson 3 takes a practical look at God-centered living by teaching students that God’s plan calls for Christians to meet the needs of the poor. In this lesson, students will evaluate their own attitudes toward the needy and what they are currently doing to make a difference. Lesson 4 focuses on the purpose and meaning found in a life in relationship with God. This lesson urges students to reflect on the choices they have made in their lives, and whether these choices led them to either follow or turn from God—and the possibilities this unlocks in their lives.
